Fallout 76 has introduced a very complex and interesting Item system. Since players can engage in combat both PvE - against the environment, monsters, NPC controlled units, etc. , and PvP against other players, play various Team roles: Damage dealer, Tank, Support, Healer, craft, repair, and modify Items, and construct Bases, we have been given a lot of different Item types for all kinds of purposes. This includes Ammunition, Armor and Clothing, Consumables like Chems, Food, Drinks, Bobbleheads, Holodisks, Notes, Plans, Recipes, Magazines, Crafting and Raw Materials, Junk and Misc Items, as well as the most important - Weapons.
Most of the Items in Fallout 76 are tradeable. The exception being only Holodisks, Quest Items, and Cosmetic Items. With such a wide range of activities players can partake in Fallout 76, trading is a core and inevitable part of the game's universe. Trading is possible not only with NPC controlled vendors and vending machines but also with other players. Items available from vendors are greatly limited, and you will rarely find the best Legendary goods offered there, so trading with other players is sometimes the only option to get the best gear for your character. Many players will accept Caps in exchange (which are the primary currency in FO76), but Barter trading becomes much more popular in Fallout 76, as players will seek to exchange their Legendary Items with base types they aren't using (because of skill limitation, playstyle, and so on) for Items they specifically need for their characters. There are many different types of Items in Fallout 76, and you will usually build your character around just a few of them, so with limited Stash space, keeping excess items for all the available build types may be impossible in the long run.
Types of tradeable Fallout 76 Items | |
Ammunition |
Ammo is used to recharge all kinds of firearms used in Fallout 76. There are nearly 20 ammo types in the game, used for different types of weapons. It's usually looted from slain monsters like Super Mutants, found in containers, but higher level players who are specialized in a single type of guns will most likely need to craft it or buy off other players that don't use them |
Armors and clothing | This group contains all equipable Armor types including Power Armor Parts. Parts of Armors like Chest, Arms, and Legs enhance your defensive stats (though more advanced Items can also provide other utility and damage bonuses) while all the other Items including Eyewear, Mouthwear, Hats, Shirts, or Outfits have only cosmetic purposes and change your apparel in the game world |
Consumables | All kinds of Items used on your character which alter its attributes or provide temporary and permanent effects depending on the Item. This group contains Food and Drinks (which primarily replenish your Hunger and Thirst bars), Chems and Drugs, Bobbleheads, and Magazines. Using all Items from this group will destroy the Item in the process. |
Plans and Recipes | All kinds of Notes, Plans, Recipes that teach you how to craft all kinds of Items. You can also learn new cooking recipes that way which allow you to craft more effective food which grants additional bonuses |
Misc Items | This group contains mainly Junk Items which are used for crafting, repairing, and modifying Items, constructing buildings and other structures. There are several types of sub-categories in this group, as there are different types of Junk in Fallout 76. You can loot and find raw materials, mine resources, or get crafting components from salvaging other Items. We can also include Keys in this group, which are used to open locked doors and containers. Keys are found across Appalachia and will allow you to access restricted areas and find valuable Loot in sealed of places. |
Weapons | One of the most important groups of Items in Fallout 76. This group contains both Ballistic, Melee, Energy, Explosive, and all other kinds of weaponry available in Fallout 76. Weapons are the most sought-after and at the same time the most expensive type of Items in the game, as in most parts, they determine what kind of enemies you can defeat. Defenses in Fallout 76 comes second |
Some players find looting Items the most interesting activity in Fallout 76 and take on a part of a Scavenger/Looter on their adventure. There is a number of Skills used specifically for this profession. However, most players will prefer playing the standard roles of versatile damage dealers whether it's Melee characters, Riflemen or Gunslingers. With big diversity in Fallout 76's populating, trading becomes a necessity for a lot of players. If you can't find Items by yourself, you will need to trade for them with other players or buy FO76 Items with real money on external markets. There is no official in-game marketplace that would allow players to list their Items for sale, making trading quite inconvenient for the majority of players. In order to meet the needs of Fallou 76 players, Odealo has opened the most secure market for Fallout 76 Items where trading is done with real money. Here you can Buy, Sell, and Trade Fallout 76 Items directly with other players. Trading on Odealo is done with real cash, so you can easily get an upper hand in the scorched wastes of Appalachia without having to grind your way up through all the levels.
