Introduction
Life on a deserted island would be really nice and peaceful... if not for one particular greedy Racoon who likes Bells more than anything. Paying him off is not an easy task, especially if you don't know your way around moneymaking in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is why we have decided to describe a bunch of proven Bell making methods that will allow you to make a decent profit and take the greedy Tom Nook off your back once and for all.
This guide aims to introduce you to the basics of Animal Crossing: New Horizons Bells making. Hopefully, it will help you learn how to take your bellmaking skills to a completely new level. The Below-described methods have proven to be working exceptionally well and they should help you fill up your pockets with a healthy amount of Bells. We encourage you to at least a few of them out to determine which method suits you the most. If you are not interested in the methods themselves, you will still find some basic tips and tricks here. After all, you need to be efficient if you want to afford the most expensive Items, Furniture, and Clothing the game has to offer.
Note: For those of you who value numbers more than words, we have devised a simple Star Rating System that should make spotting bellmaking activities that meet your requirements/playstyle much easier. We have granted from 0 to 5 stars, to each of the below-described activities, in three self-explanatory categories: Easiness, Quickness, and Profitability.

Below, we present you a collection of our favorite Animal Crossing: New Horizons Bell making methods. They range from very profitable but work-intensive, to very easy and fast daily methods that will give you a little bit of pocket money on a regular basis. Mix and match these methods so that you don't get bored by repeating the same tasks over and over again, as having fun is the most important aspect of any game!
Note: Some of the below-described methods can be performed once per day. They do not give you too much profit but are very quick and very easy to do. Repeating them regularly will provide you with some quick pocket money on a daily basis. Also, these daily methods can be used as a leap away from more tedious, grindy methods as they are quite relaxing and surprisingly satisfying to perform.
Farming Tarantulas We are starting with a big one this time. A single Tarantula sells for 8000 Bells and, with this method, you will be able to fill whole inventory with them (which amounts to about 300000 Bells). Tarantulas spawn on all islands, but only in the evening, and they like open areas (which is great, because you can turn a whole island into an "open area" by clearing it out). Beware, as they are aggressive and will try to knock you out if you don't catch them quickly enough. If you want to try your strength in Farming Tarantulas, please follow these instructions:
Note: Not all islands are suitable for Farming Tarantulas; if you get unlucky and roll an island that will not spawn them, all you need to do is buy another Ticket and try the next island (this should not happen too often, however). |
Summary - As far as Farming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons goes, there is nothing better than catching a bunch of giant spiders. Prepare your own Tarantula Farm and make ~1/3 of a million Bells in one go. All you need is 2k Nook Miles, a stack of Fruits and some basic equipment. |

Native Fruits TradingThis is a very simple method that will allow you to make some quick Bells by transporting Fruits from one island to another. It is based on the fact that each Island in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons has its "Native" Fruit. Native Fruits are easier to grow and therefore cheaper to buy. In fact, they are so much cheaper, that the Buy price of a fruit, that is native to one island, is lower than the Sell price of the same fruit, on another island where the said fruit is not a "Native" one. In other words, you can buy your Island's Native Fruits and sell them on another island, that has a different set of Native Fruits, at a profit. Here is how to do this in a few simple steps:
The main downside of this method is the fact that there is a lot of clicking and running around involved. If you are the type of Player who hates tedious tasks, we recommend you to skip this one, for your sanity's sake. Note: Yes, it is much more profitable to collect your Island's Native Fruits from trees and sell those, but Fruits need time to grow, which means that making continuous "trade runs" based on your farmed fruits is impossible. However, picking up your grown fruits to sell them on your friend's island is a great way of making the 160k Bells needed to kick start the above-mentioned method (you can also erkhmmm... borrow the fruits from your friend's trees). |
Summary - Animal Crossing: New Horizons has some Supply and Demand relations built into it. Take advantage of them and make money out of transporting Fruits from one island to another. All you will need at the start is a rather minor investment of 160k Bells. |

Daily Glowing Spot / Planting Money TreesEach day, a random spot on your island will start glowing. If curiosity is in your nature and you decide to investigate this phenomenon, you will be rewarded with 1000 Bells. All you need to do is dig a hole in the glowing spot. However, the method does not stop here, as there is a way of making much more than just 1000 Bells out of this. Here is how it works:
Note: This method's profitability is based on the fact that it can be repeated daily with minimal time investment. It will not make you rich instantly, but the number of Bells gained with it will grow steadily over time. |
Summary - There is a treasure hidden on your Island; if you add to it instead of just digging it out and putting it into your pocket, you will get much more after a few days. |
Score: |
Daily Money RocksEach day, one Rock in your town will transform into a so-called Money Rock. Hitting such Rock with an Axe or a Shovel will result in Bells popping out of it. Farming these rocks is an easy method of making some additional daily profit, but it will not make you rich as you are limited to one such Rock per day, and the number of Bells that comes out of a single Rock is limited. To farm the Money Rock efficiently, please follow these simple steps:
While not too profitable at first glance, this method is still worth trying out because free Bells are always welcome. Moreover, if you make a habit out of farming Money Rocks, you will make a substantial number of Bells in the long run. Note: Each villager will get a different Money Rock every day. This means that the number of Rocks will always be equal to the number of players inhabiting the Island. |
Summary - There is money under that Rock, all you need to do is dig it out. Harvesting Money Rocks is a good way of making some additional Bells on a daily basis. |

FishingThe favorite in-game activity of many can be surprisingly profitable in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Dust off your trusty fishing rod, head to the nearest beach, sit down, cast your fishing rod, relax, and wait for a fish to take the bait. After you catch a bunch of fish, head to your Nook's Cranny and sell them to Nooklings; your profit will mostly depend on the number and the kind of fish you have managed to catch. This sounds as tedious as some of the above-mentioned methods, but there is something relaxing about fishing... you don't have to click rapidly, or move around, or even pay attention (at least not all the time). If you are looking for a relaxing way of spending time in-game that will also make you some Bells, Fishing is definitely a great choice. You can also check out our in-depth comparison of the most expensive Fish in New Horizons for more details on how to make money off fishing. Note: There is no limit on how many fish you can catch daily, so you could fish all day, potentially... |
Summary - Fish sell for quite a good price, which means that catching them can be a good source of Bells, especially if you like fishing. |

Crafting and Selling the "Hot Items"This method is based on the fact that the selling price of a random item in your Nook's Cranny gets doubled each day, for 24 hours. The doubled price will often be higher than the combined price of materials required for crafting the said Item. Here is how you can easily profit from this:
Note1: Not every "Hot Item" is worth making, even if it sells for double the normal price. This is why it is very important that you calculate your profit margin before crafting. The higher the margin, the more Bells you will make. Note2: Mass Crafting can get very tedious very quickly; if you get bored easily, do this method only if the profit margin of the "Hot Item" of the day is exceptionally high. Otherwise, you will be much better off with one of the other featured methods. |
Summary - Each Day a random Item sells for double the price. Craft the item and make a profit from selling it. |

Selling Duplicate FossilsThere are two things to consider here; 1 - Each Fossil has to be donated to the museum just once. 2 - Fossils that you get during your adventures in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons are random. This means that you are bound to get multiple duplicates that can be sold for a decent number of Bells. Of course, this method is not too reliable because of the fossils' rarity, but you will still make some additional Bells (especially if you already have some duplicate Fossils lying around). Note: You will find Fossils naturally by playing the game, which means that this method is free money, essentially. |
Summary - Museum is not interested in exhibiting more than one specimen of each of the Fossils, which means that you are free to sell any duplicates you find. |
Score: *Unless you go out of your way and farm Fossils; then Quickness will be much lower, but your Profits will rise. |
Here are some tips & tricks that will help you make a little bit extra profit on a daily basis.
